David was not just creating a new musical creation, but an environment that would cause a generation to have an understanding that they were called to lead creation in worship. They got a revelation of God through worship and by activating creation.
Throughout Scripture, God demonstrates His power and authority by connecting a sound to it. For example, He declared that Jesus was the Son of God through an audible voice from Heaven. Even the sounds of the elements contain all the frequencies of the sound spectrum and connect with the realms of heaven. Moreover, sound is an incredible force in releasing God's authority over regions of the earth through the praises of His people.
When we cease to appreciate and value what God has done in the past, we limit our ability to apprehend by faith what God will do in the future. There is life giving waters in the wells of past revivals when we are willing to dig into them.
